Coy Funk

Coy Wayne Funk, age 68 years, a resident of Ozark, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, August 18, 2021, at 12:40 PM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Coy was born July 19, 1953 at the family home at Tunnel Hill, Illinois. He was the son of Harvie Paul Funk and Iva Mae (Brown) Funk.

On June 30, 1973, Coy was united in marriage to Betty Jean Boner at Creal Springs, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2007.

In addition to his mother, Iva Mae Davault, Coy is survived by: his daughters – Amber (Michael) Chwarczinski of Zeigler and Amanda (Jacob) Langley of Marion; 4 grandchildren – Jace, Brinley, Alyssa, and Anastasia; his siblings – Robert Paul Funk, Larry Gene Funk, Arthur Funk, Sandra Choate, Etta Mae Murphy, Cindy Trexler, and Lisa Erwin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his father and wife, Coy was preceded in death by: 2 brothers – Harvey Lee Funk and James Loyd Funk.

Coy had been employed as a farm and construction laborer. He also worked as an equipment operator at the Norge/Maytag manufacturing facility in Herrin.

Coy was a member of the Northern Baptist Church in Creal Springs. He was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A celebration of the life of Coy Wayne Funk will be conducted Sunday afternoon, August 29, 2021, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the New Salem Cemetery near Creal Springs.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 1 PM – 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
