Lynda C. Tanner

Lynda C. Tanner, age 74 years, a resident of New Burnside, Illinois, passed away Tuesday evening, July 27, 2021, at 6:55 p.m. at SIH Herrin Hospital.

Lynda was born July 27, 1947.  She was the daughter of Rural and Dimple (Cross) Tanner.

On March 19, 1966, Lynda was united in marriage to Charles Tanner at the New Burnside United Methodist Church.  He preceded her in death on July 18, 2021.

Lynda is survived by: her daughters – Kristina Nichols of Ozark and Rhonda (John) Hill of New Burnside; 3 grandchildren – Zackary (Andria) Nichols, Casey (Chris) Yates, and Sammie Waddell; 5 great grandchildren – Dayton Nichols, Christina Jennings, Collin Nichols, Kholbe Reinitz and Destiny Nichols; her siblings – Shirley Brown, Gary (Helen) Tanner, Donna White, Ronnie (Minnie Jo) Tanner and Melba Tanner all of New Burnside, John (Margaret) Tanner of Simpson, Karon (Bill) Scates of Shawneetown, and Debbie (John) Bush of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law – Jo Tanner of New Burnside; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lynda was preceded in death by: 2 brothers – Dick Tanner and David Tanner; a son-in-law – John Nichols; and 2 brothers-in-law – Tom Brown and Bill White.

Lynda was a graduate of the Vienna High School.  She was employed in the medical coding department by Blue Cross & Blue Shield.

Lynda and Charlie had been active members of the Heartland Mule Riders Club.  She was a faithful member of Harvest Deliverance Center Church in Harrisburg.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 7, 2021, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Burial will be in the Reynoldsburg Cemetery, near Tunnel Hill.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m.– 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

For the convenience of those unable to personally attend the funeral service, it will be livestreamed on the Bailey Funeral Home Facebook page.  The ceremony will also be archived for later viewing.
