On November 27, 1958, Viola was united in marriage to Hal Eugene Penrod in Johnson County Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1994.
Viola is survived by: her daughters – Marsha (Rick) Cook of Cypress, and Darla (Mark) Brown of Ozark; 4 grandchildren – Jessica, Kimberly, Andrew & Will; a sister – Virginia Martin of Metropolis; a brother-in-law – Donnie Norris of Cypress; 2 sisters-in-law – Sharon Hennesy of Carrier Mills and Donna Hennesy of Jonesboro; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Viola was preceded in death by: an infant sister – Eva Mae Hennesy; a sister – Janet Norris, 2 brothers – Curtis Hennesy and Jerry Hennesy; and a brother-in-law – Leonard Martin.
Viola was a 1957 graduate of Vienna High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising houseplants.
Viola was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna.
A graveside service honoring the life of Viola M. Penrod will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, December 22, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Bridges Cemetery, southwest of Vienna. Pastor Jay Franklin will officiate. Interment will follow.
Those attending are reminded to observe customarily accepted social distancing guidelines. The wearing of a face mask or covering is strongly encouraged.
