Juanita “June” Walker, 91, of Goreville, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion surrounded by her family.
June was born June 12, 1928 to Loren and Marbia (Simmons) Johns in Creal Springs. After her mother’s passing, her father remarried Louise Johns. She married Gene Ward Walker on December 28, 1947 in Marion. He preceded her in death in 1971. June worked as a hairdresser in her early years and then as a secretary for Lake of Egypt Water and United Market Center. She was an active member in the Goreville Methodist Church.
June is survived by four daughters. Pam (Ric) Reuscher of Tunnel Hill, Marba Bertling of Goreville, Debbie (Mark) Macklin of South Fulton, TN and Beverly Martin of Herrin; sister, Lowanda Cadle of Marion and a special aunt, Cora Childers of Marion; grandchildren, Shelli (Billy) Herman, Terri (Scott) Carter, Natalie (Jason) Anderson, Sarah (Justin) Francis, Brock (Tristyn Grounds) Bertling, Erica Macklin, Lauren (Ben) Hudson, Marbi (Nick) Bonner, and Hallie Martin; great-grandchildren, Riki Jean Herman, Hunter Walker, Elli & Sadie Carter, Morgan White, Jaxon Anderson, Max & Mila Francis, Gus Cantrell, Mark Hudson, and Sawyer and Silas Bonner.
June was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; husband; infant sister, Karen Sue Johns, and sister, Ruth Ann Goodge.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Goreville United Methodist Church with Pastors Glenn Webb, Alan Milligan and Rico Esguerra officiating. Burial will follow in Busby Chapel Cemetery, Goreville. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday, November 4th at the church.
