Donald Hileman

Donald D. Hileman, age 86, a resident of Cypress, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, November 13, 2019, at 1:34 AM at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna.

Donald was born February 7, 1933 at the family farm near Dongola, Illinois.  He was the third of four children born to Roy G. and Pearl M. (Porterfield) Hileman.

On April 19, 1956, Donald was united in marriage to Earlene Turner at Cypress, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on December 8, 2000.  Donald was later united in marriage to Nancy JoAn (Creson) Vaughn on July 16, 2001 at Flippin, Arkansas.  She survives.

Other survivors include: his children – Larry (Debbie) Hileman of Vienna and Renee (Dennis) Anderson of Grand Chain; stepsons – Dennis (Sheri) Vaughn of Brighton, Missouri and Darren (Robin) Vaughn of Halfway, Missouri; a step-daughter-in-law – Rhonda Vaughn of Springfield, Missouri; 11 grandchildren – Amy (Patrick) Trovillion, Jeremy (Angela) Hileman, Chas (Tracy) Hileman, Josh Hileman, Brandon Hileman, Shawn Hileman, Devin Hileman, Charles (Sara) Ebersohl, Heidi (Ernie) Stapleton, Angela (James) Jones, and Dustin (Mary) Anderson; 7 step-grandchildren – Josh Love, Ethan (Shelby) Vaughn, Kelsey (Austin) Fairbairn, Danielle (Kodi) Poindexter, Jay (Chelsey) Vaughn, Cazy (Trisha) Vaughn, and Rachel Vaughn; 17 great grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; a sister – Mary Karraker of Anna; a brother – Roy D. (Maureen) Hileman of Keller, Texas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Donald also leaves behind his beloved cat, “Emily.”

In addition to his parents and first wife, Donald was preceded in death by: a stepson – Robert Joe Vaughn; 2 step grandchildren – Rari and Wally Vaughn; a sister and brother-in-law – Anita & Raymond Ray; and a brother-in-law – Ervin Karraker.

Donald was a 1950 graduate of the Dongola High School.  He was employed as a laborer on the Chicago and Eastern Illinois (C&EI) Railroad.  He later worked as a location manager at the Ullin Fruit Belt Farm Service facility.  Donald retired in 1991 with 26 ½ years of service.

Donald was a 59 year member of the Masonic fraternity.  He joined Stone Arch Masonic Lodge # 953 A.F. & A.M. in 1960 and served as the Worshipful Master in 1963.  Most recently, Donald was a member of Vienna Masonic Lodge # 150 A.F. & A.M. following the merger of Stone Arch Lodge with Vienna Masonic Lodge.

Donald presently served as a Cypress Village Board Trustee.  He was also a member of the Cypress Cemetery Board. Donald was a member of the Dongola First Baptist Church.

Donald was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.  He also enjoyed mowing, farming, and camping.  Donald and JoAn enjoyed many pleasant winters camping in Donna, Texas.

A service honoring the life of Donald Hileman will be conducted Saturday afternoon, November 16, 2019, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Burial will be in the Cypress Cemetery.

Visitation will be conducted Friday evening, November 15, 2019, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Masonic rites will be accorded at 8 PM Friday at the funeral home under the auspices of Vienna Masonic Lodge # 150 A.F. & A.M.
