Michael C. “Rat” Richerson

Michael C. “Rat” Richerson, age 60 years, a resident of rural Vienna, Illinois, passed away Monday morning Ocftober 7, 2019, at 5:08 AM at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mike was born April 7, 1959 in Harrisburg, Illinois.  He was the son of Paul Murray Richerson and Edwina Kay (Craig) Richerson.

On September 6, 1980, Mike was united in marriage to Teresa G. Harner at the Oak Grove Baptist Church by Pastor David Faulkner.  She survives.

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his daughter – Shoshannah “Shorty” DiDomenico and her husband Kyle of Chicago; a granddaughter – Olivia Ellen DiDomenico, who Mike loving called “Peanut”; 2 brothers – Murray Richerson of St. Peters, Missouri and Robert Joseph Taylor, Jr. of Stonefort, Illinois; a sister – Marna Karns and her husband Michael of Equality; his stepmother – Connie Richerson of Carrier Mills; his stepfather – Robert Joseph “Bob” Taylor, Sr. of Stonefort; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Paul Murray Richerson, and his mother Edwina Kay Taylor.

Mike attended Carrier Mills High School.  He was employed for many years by J.W. Reynolds Monument Company in Vienna as an engraver in the workshop.  On August 25, 2003, Mike began his working career with the Johnson County Highway Department.  Mike was also a former co-owner and operator of Hells Neck Archery Range.

Mike was a member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America Local # 773.  He was also a former member of the National Wild Turkey Federation.  Mike was of the Baptist faith.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time on his pontoon boat on his lake (which Olivia affectionately called “Paw Paw’s Ocean.”)

A service honoring the life of Michael Richerson will be conducted Sunday afternoon, October 13, 2019, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor Pete Vinson will officiate.  Private interment will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 4 PM – 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
