Erich H. Hamann, 85, died September 21, 2019 at his home in Navarre, FL surrounded by his family.
Erich was born in 1934 in Hamburg, Germany to Hildegard Sievert and Hans Hamann. He lived through World War II as a child in Germany.
At 19 years old, he immigrated to America and joined the U.S. Air Force. After serving in the Air Force for 3 1/2 years, he attended and graduated from the University of Illinois School of Pharmacy. He and his family settled in Lombard, IL. where he began his career in Pharmacy.
In 1968, he and his family moved to Vienna, IL where he opened the Vienna Drug Store. He was a pharmacist in Vienna until he sold the business. In 1990, Erich relocated to the Atlanta, GA area where he practiced Pharmacy for Eckerd Drugs and Rite Aid. After retiring, he moved to Navarre, FL to be close to family.
Erich was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Hamann Friedrich. Survivors include: two brothers, Bernd Sievers (Sylvie) of Berlin Germany and Norbert Sievers, daughter Carolyn H. Sears (Mike), son Erich W. Hamann, along with 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Grandchildren include Nicholas T. Sears (Tara), Megan E. Ramsey (Andrew), Daniel A. Friedrich, Jeffrey D. Sears, Nathan W. Friedrich, Abigail R. Friedrich, Timothy J. Hamann (Haley), Macie K. Hamann, Mark A. Hamann, and great granddaughter, Haley E. Friedrich.
Per Erich’s wishes, a small private memorial will be held for immediate family members. Friends may send condolences and share any memories. Cards should be sent to 6917 Sea Bass Circle, Navarre, FL 32566.
