Lodema was born March 24, 1929 at the family home in the Elvira Township of Johnson County Illinois. She was the daughter of Hugh I. and Afton (Hall) Mighell.
Lodema was first united in marriage to Floyd Stout. To this union a son, Gary Lynn Stout, was born. He died in infancy. Later, Lodema was united in marriage to Angelo Luporini on April 20, 1974 in Des Plaines, Illinois. Angelo preceded her in death on February 4, 1988.
Survivors include: a brother – Robert T. (Lois Ann) Mighell of Copperas Cove, Texas. Additionally, Lodema was a beloved aunt to three generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, husbands, and infant son, Lodema was preceded in death by: her step mother – Martha Gladys (Billingsley) Mighell; a sister – Mary K. Asbury; and 2 brothers – Samuel Joseph Mighell and Barry Neil Mighell.
Lodema was a 1947 graduate of the Vienna High School. She was employed as a long distance telephone operator by the Centel Phone Company in Des Plaines, Illinois until her retirement in 1991.
Lodema was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Buncombe. She was a member and former director of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). She had also sang in the church choir and had been an active Vacation Bible School volunteer.
Lodema is fondly remembered for her love of cats, butterflies and birds.
A service honoring the life of Lodema Mighell Luporini will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 24, 2019, at 4 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Billy Thomas will officiate.
Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery east of Buncombe.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 PM – 4 PM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
