Clara L. Sanders

Clara L. Sanders, age 83 years, a resident of the New Burnside community, passed away Wednesday morning, August 28, 2019, at 3:30 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Clara was born October 29, 1935 at the family home on Jackson Road near Tunnel Hill, Illinois.  She was the daughter of William Coy and Frances L. Moore.

On June 4, 2008, Clara was united in marriage to Thomas Dee Sanders at Vienna, Illinois.  He survives. 

Other survivors include: a daughter – Lee Anne (Terry) Wood of Junction; a stepdaughter – Diana Sue Stoddard; 2 stepsons – Thomas Arthur Sanders of Elkhart, Indiana and Jonathan W. Sanders of Granger, Indiana; 3 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren: Jeremy Lee Stoddard, Crystal Rae Stoddard, David Sanders, Tommy Sanders and Alex Sanders; several great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by a sister – Lorene Schell.

Clara was a 1953 graduate of Vienna High School.  She attended Southeastern Illinois College at Harrisburg, Illinois and later, while residing near Spartanburg, South Carolina, she received additional training for her employment.  Clara worked as an automobile lot security guard.  She also had received training in real estate sales. 

Clara enjoyed raising and caring for her cats. 

A graveside service honoring the life of Clara Moore Sanders will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 31, 2019 at 2 PM at the Taylor Cemetery, north of Vienna.  Pastor William Barrett will officiate. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 1:45 PM Saturday. 

There will be no public visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 4400 Clayton Avenue, St Louis, MO 63110.
