Anna Barnett, 82, of Karnak, Illinois passed away at 12:28 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Anna was born October 20, 1936 in Cypress Illinois. Anna and Charles Barnett were united in marriage December 24, 1953, they spent 65 wonderful years together.
Anna worked many years as the Financial Aid Director at Shawnee Community College. She had also worked as the Office Manager for the Village of Karnak. Anna loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, she enjoyed traveling, antiquing and planting flowers in her yard. Anna loved cooking and baking for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Barnett; one son, Alan (Delaine) Barnett of Karnak; two daughters, Beverly Greer of Karnak, Julie (Robin) Hinton of Karnak; three grandchildren, Stephanie Greer of Metropolis, Blair (Wesley) Anderson of Grand Chain, Jesse (Brett) Green of Metropolis; eleven great grandchildren, Jackson and Chrislynn Wright, Hayden and Tadge Anderson, Dylan, Drew, Dane, Kinsleigh and Emmalyn Green, Kayla Baird and Dalton Wright.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Winifred McKenzie Sanders; five brothers, William, Harold, Darrell, James and Jack Sanders; three sisters, Jenny Snell, Evelyn Bishop and Betty Little; grandson and granddaughter, Chris and Sabrina Greer.
Funeral services honoring the life of Anna Barnett will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Rev. Dean West will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 till 8 at the funeral home and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Pallbearer serving will be Rich Elliott, Steve Anderson, Randy McClellan, Raymond Lippert, Chuck Peck and Dennis Barnett.
Honorary pallbearer will be Loren Crockett
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
