Joanna Clymore

Joanna Darlene Clymore, age 66 years, a resident of rural Creal Springs, Illinois, passed away Monday afternoon, July 1, 2019, at 4:06 PM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Joanna was born June 8, 1953 in Union County Illinois.  She was the daughter of Joed and Anna Isabella (Hight) Sanders.

On February 15, 1975, Joanna was united in marriage to Ed Clymore at her parent’s home in Vienna.  He survives.

In addition to her husband, Joanna is survived by: her son – Kyle (Rheanna Pulley) Clymore of Creal Springs; 2 sisters-in-law – Barb Clymore of Jonesboro and Janet Sanders of Harrisburg; nieces and nephews – Kim Clymore Gibson, Valerie Clymore Rhymer, Robert Sanders, Bridget Sanders Holder, Scott Sanders, Rob Deaton, Randy Deaton, and Peyton Clymore; and a cousin – Billy (Nancy) Holt of Belknap.

In addition to her parents, Joanna was preceded in death by her brother – Rev. Dr. Robert E. Sanders and her brother-in-law- G.A. Clymore.

Joanna was a 1971 graduate of Vienna High School.  She earned an associate degree in secretarial studies at Shawnee Community College.  She also earned 2 additional associate degrees at John A. Logan Community College while completing her Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse training.

Joanna dedicated her life to the healthcare profession.  She began working at the former Marion Memorial Hospital as a staff nurse, later as an emergency room nurse, and director of medical-surgical nursing.  She worked in infection control at both Marion Memorial Hospital and Heartland Regional Medical Center and last worked at Heartland as risk manager and patient safety officer until her retirement in 2016. 

Joanna enjoyed horseback riding. 

She was of the Christian faith. 

A celebration of the life of Joanna Clymore will be conducted Saturday morning, July 6, 2019, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor Ivan Ryan will officiate.

The family will receive friends and relatives Friday evening, July 5, 2019, from 6 PM – 8 PM and Saturday morning, July 6, 2019, from 10 AM – 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
