The Goreville United Methodist Church float won first place at the Goreville Freedom Fest parade on the Fourth of July.

Freedom Fest another one to remember

This year’s Goreville Freedom Fest was once again another one to remember on the Fourth of July.

The parade was one of the day’s early highlights, with the Goreville United Methodist Church winning first place among the parade floats, while First Pentecostal Church took second. The Royal Court — a gathering of past Goreville High School prom and homecoming queens — took third and Fabick Cat took fourth.

The Christian group, The Redeemsmen Quartet, also performed, while there was a Kids’ Fun Zone at the village park, a cornhole tournament and several groups performing that evening.

The day concluded with a fireworks show that evening.
