Cathy Ann (Stockton) Copley

Cathy Ann (Stockton) Copley, age 63, a resident of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, July 15, 2019, at 6:30 AM at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. 

Cathy was born March 28, 1956 in Williamson County.  She was the daughter of Eldon Leon Stockton and Frances (Bullock) Stockton.

On January 13, 1973, Cathy was united in marriage to Herbert Timothy “Tim” Copley.  He preceded her in death on December 17, 2017.

Cathy is survived by: her mother – Frances Rohrer of Metropolis;  her sons – Joel James Michael Copley, Timothy Andrew Copley and Jeremy Dean Marshall Copley; 8 grandchildren – Alex (his wife Keri), Cobie, Dylan, Cassidy, Lydia, Alysa, Cayleb and Caydi; 2 brothers  – Raymond Stockton and Riley (Pat) Stockton; 2 sisters – Zetta Mae Stockton Davidson and Leona (Jim) Rader; a brother-in-law – Dane (Anita) Clark; a dear friend – Holly Waldon; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.  Cathy was anticipating the birth of her first great grandchild to be born in February 2020. 

In addition to her father and husband, Cathy was preceded in death by: 2 sisters – Madonna Stockton Odum and Opal Dianne Stockton Clark; and 2 nephews – James Rader and Jacob Clark.

Cathy was a graduate of Shawnee Community College near Ullin, where she received her Licensed Practical Nurses training. Cathy was a devoted nurse and caregiver.  She had been employed at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis as well as the office of Dr. Bharat Patel, MD.  Cathy also worked at Active Day, an adult day care facility, in Paducah.  For many years, Cathy worked for TIP Home Health Care and later TIP Hospice.  Since 2016, Cathy has been employed by United Energy Worker’s Healthcare, located in Lone Oak, Kentucky.

Cathy was of the Baptist faith.  She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.  Cathy and Tim had both enjoyed playing on a regular pool league at the Trails Inn in Metropolis.

A service honoring the life of Cathy A. Stockton Copley will be conducted Friday afternoon, July 19, 2019, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor Frank Forthman will officiate.  A eulogy will be delivered by Cathy’s dear friend, Holly Waldon.

Inurnment will be in the Kerley Cemetery in the Flatwoods community.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 12 Noon – 1 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
