Fran G. Elam

Fran G. Elam, age 76 years, a resident rural Golconda, the Sulphur Springs community, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, June 7, 2019, at 7:30 AM at her home.

Fran was the eldest of four children born to Bud and Frances (Cooper) Grubbs Pearce. She was born December 13, 1942 in Joliet, Illinois.

On March 16, 1962, Fran was united in marriage to Glen E. Elam in Jonesboro, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2016.

Survivors include: her children – Danny Joe (Venus) Elam of Bloomingdale, Kathy Jo (Jimmy) Fehrman of the Dixon Springs community, Gary Dean (Donna) Elam of Caseyville, and Brandon Eric Elam of Marion; 2 grandchildren – Samantha Jane Fehrman and Tyler James Fehrman; 2 sisters – Laura Lee Craddock of Union, Tennessee and Linda Dale (Frank) Harris of Mayfield, Kentucky; a brother-in-law & sister-in-law – Ivus (Linda) Elam of the Sulphur Springs community; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Fran was preceded in death by a brother – Tommy Dan Pearce.

Fran was a 1960 graduate of Elgin High School. Following graduation, she attended business college in Elgin. Fran was employed as a secretary by David C. Cook Publishing Co as well as the Sky Harbor Airport. Additionally, she worked in the deli department at Dominick’s Finer Foods in Elgin.

In 1998, Glen and Fran retired to southern Illinois making their home in Pope County. Fran enjoyed homemaking and collecting dolls. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

A service honoring the life of Fran Elam will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 2019, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Kevin Richerson will officiate. Burial will be in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
