Juanita S. Harris

Juanita S. Harris, age 76 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Saturday evening May 4, 2019 at 7:00 PM at her residence.

Juanita was born on April 6, 1943 in Pascola, Missouri. She was the daughter of Walter and Annie (Rettig) Eveland.

On May 8, 1978, Juanita was united in Marriage to Marvin L. “Tom” Harris at Kankakee, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on November 21, 2014.

Juanita is survived by: her children – Lula (James) Bessette, Marvin (Carolyn) Harris, Dennis (Kaye) Harris, Gerald Alan Raburn all of Vienna, George Aaron (Daniella) Harris of Kankakee, Scott Harris of Anna, and Teresa (Raymond) Pearl of Vienna. Juanita was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by: 2 sisters- Doris Hudson of Florida and Joy (Jerry) Clark of Louisiana; a brother – Ted Eveland of Bourbonnais; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by: an infant son – Jeff; 2 grandsons – Devon and Nicholas; a great granddaughter – Ella Rae; 4 brothers – Ed, Hubert, Joe, and George; and 3 sisters – Patricia, Barbara Ruth, and Arittia.

Juanita was a retired Telephone Operator for Manteno Mental Health Center and had been the owner and operator of the Christian Bookstore and the Laundry Mat in Vienna.

Juanita was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church near Cypress. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

The family will host a celebration of life in honor of Juanita on Monday evening, May 6, 2019 at 7PM at the Harvest Church of Southern Illinois in Anna, located at 602 East Davie Street.  Pastor Scott Harris and Brother Jay Franklin will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 5PM until service time.
