Lou Dean Spurlin

Lou Dean Spurlin, age 76 years, a resident of rural Simpson, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2019, at 2:12 PM, at the home of her fiancé, Larry Dawson, near Glendale.

Lou Dean was born May 29, 1942 in Simpson Township.  She was the youngest of eight children born to Joseph J. and Annie Ruth (Watkins) Trigg.

Lou Dean was united in marriage to Benjamin Spurlin.  He preceded her in death on September 1, 2003.

In addition to her fiancé, Larry, Lou Dean is survived by: an adopted son – Kenneth Spurlin of Elnora, Indiana as well as three generations of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lou Dean was preceded in death by: 4 sisters – Violet Broadway, Sarah Johnson, Ruth Longworth, and Lucy Burgess; and 3 brothers – Hobart, Jim and John Trigg.

Lou Dean was a 1961 graduate of Vienna High School.  She was a homemaker and loved to garden.  Lou Dean and Ben enjoyed amateur (ham) radio operation and were members of various ham radio clubs through the years.

Lou Dean is fondly remembered by all who knew her as a kind, caring and loving person.

A funeral service honoring the life of Lou Dean Spurlin will be conducted Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor David Faulkner will officiate.  Burial will be in the Kerley Cemetery in the Flatwoods community.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, March 20, 2019, from 6 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
