Marty Trim, age 69 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Saturday morning, February 23, 2019, at 10:35 a.m. at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.
Marty was born June 11, 1949 in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He was the son of Martin J. “Marty” Trim and Helen (Ferry) Trim.
Marty is survived by: his daughter – Shanna Mitchell of Park Forest; 3 grandchildren – Cassidy, Dylan and Lucas Mitchell; a sister – Roxanne Bosanko of Morocco, Indiana; 2 nieces – Julie Hammond of Orland Park and Allison Johnson of Morocco, Indiana; as well as his loving significant other – Sandi Hammond of Vienna;
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Martin J. “Marty” and Helen Trim.
Marty was a graduate of Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army from May 1970 until his honorable discharge on November 23, 1971. Marty was a member of the AMVETS.
Marty was employed as a construction laborer and was a member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local # 773. He also worked as an over-the-road truck driver.
Marty had a love of farming. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Marty especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday morning, February 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222 and the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning, February 26, 2019, from 10 – 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
