Darrell Ballard

Darrell “Ducky” Ballard, 71, of Belknap, passed away at 4:23 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family.

Darrell was born October 13, 1947 in Belknap. He was a 1963 graduate of Vienna High School. Darrell and Beverly Dunn Ballard were united in marriage on April 11, 1971. He was an avid sportsman and he loved watching his grandchildren play in all types of sports. Darrell was a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge #150; he was the past Fire Chief and Mayor for the Village of Belknap. Darrell was also a member of the Johnson County Bass Club. He had been a member of the Shawnee Tactical Team at Shawnee Correctional Center where he retired in 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Dunn Ballard, two daughters, Amanda Jacobsen of Belknap, Melissa (Jared) Gurley of Cypress, four grandchildren, Brennan and Alisha Jacobsen, Evan and Emmaleigh Gurley, brother, Carroll (Becky) Ballard of Metropolis.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Mileigh Gurley in 2006, parents Philip and Velma Davidson Ballard,  nephew, Derek Ballard.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Darrell (Ducky) Ballard will be at 11 a.m. Thursday,  February 21, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Rev. Steve Heisner and Rev. Kenny Baker will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Belknap. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 till 8 at the funeral home and Thursday morning from 9 until the service hour.

Pallbearers will be Cyle Harner, Charles Harner, Terry Penrod, Jamie Penrod, Johnny Penrod, Mike Cullison, Keith Wilson and Garrett Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Evan Gurley, Brennan Jacobsen, Gary Wilson and Dallas Harner.
