Carolyn was born on June 28, 1945, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Rudolph G. and Helen M. Crispin Westerfeld. She graduated from Greenview High School and attended Brown’s Business College in Springfield, IL. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Petersburg, IL, but locally attended the First Baptist Church in Karnak, IL. She married Howard L. Walquist on Nov 21, 1964, in Petersburg, IL.
Carolyn worked for many years on the family dairy farm as well as an office manager for various medical offices in Paducah. She also assisted a dear friend with bookkeeping in her Paducah business. Her pride and joy was her family, and she loved spending time with her precious grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and 3 grandchildren, Isaac Stier, Krysten Walquist, and Austin Walquist, and brother-in-law Tom Walquist.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; her children, Phillip (companion Carol) Walquist of Boaz, IL; Melissa (husband Dave) Stier of Sherman, IL; Matt (companion Meisha) Walquist of Karnak, IL; four grandchildren, Nick Walquist of Boaz, Hanna (husband Bobby) Jones of Metropolis, IL, Abbey (fiancé Eddie) Stier of St. Louis, MO, and Gabe Stier of Sherman, IL; one great-grandchild, Collin; one brother, John (wife Nina) Westerfeld of Greenview, IL; four sisters, Mary (husband Bob) Ratliff of Petersburg, IL, Janice (husband Clarence) Munsch of Beason, IL, Marina Meredith of Petersburg, IL, Margaret (husband Tom) of Fowler, IN; sisters-in-law, Diana (husband Bill) Fowler of Owaneco, IL, and Shiryl Walquist of Belknap, and brother-in-law Lynn (wife Brenda) Walquist of Karnak, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, February 24, 2019, at 2 PM at the Anderson Congregational Church, 6283 County Road 150 East, Karnak, Illinois. Pastor Dean West will officiate.
Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and from 1 PM – 2 PM Sunday at the Anderson Congregational Church.
