Vienna native named acting interim director for new SCC Vienna Center

Shawnee Community College President Peggy Bradford has selected Teale Betts as Acting Interim Director of the Shawnee Community College Vienna Center. The Vienna Center located within Vienna High School will officially open for the Spring 2019 semester on January 17, 2019, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house beginning at 9:00 a.m. 

A native of Vienna, Betts is a graduate of Vienna High School, Shawnee Community College, and Murray State University. Prior to accepting this interim position, Betts served as a financial aid specialist with Shawnee College for over 15 years. 

Speaking on behalf of the college, President Bradford said, “We are pleased that Ms. Betts has accepted this position. She has been an asset to our students and this opportunity will allow her to have an even greater impact in the lives of our students.”

Betts remarked, “I am encouraged by the opportunities that opening the Vienna Center will bring to Johnson County and Southern Illinois. I am excited to work with Vienna High School and Superintendent Stafford to further increase the college impact in Johnson County.”
