Jerry Dale Green

Jerry Dale Green, 74, of Grand Chain passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, December 1, 2018 in the loving care of his long-time fiance, Vicki Caraker.

Jerry was born November 17, 1944 in Forman,Illinois to Alice Porter and Glendon Green Jr., but raised by his grandparents Auttie and Gracie Porter. After graduating from Vienna High School, Jerry joined the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge he moved north and worked as a crane operator for Granite City Steel for over 30 years. He retired and moved back to Grand Chain where he proceeded to successfully run his own farm.

Jerry loved fishing, farming and spending time with family and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He will be sorely missed by many, but never forgotten.

Jerry is survived by one son, Rodney (Kecia) Hoehn Green of Bethalto, Illinois, daughter Kimberly Green Kerr (Richard) of Kansas City, Kansas, brother, Terry Green and Mary Scarborough of Florida, grandchildren Christopher Green and Ariana Green (Smith) of Hamel, Illinois, Jeremy Green and Lauren Green (Stimac) of Wood River, Illinois, Lauren Jan Kerr of Kansas City Kansas, great grandchildren Eleanna Rose, Brielle Victoria, Sophia Verna Riva, Parker Blaine, Hadley Marie, and a great grandson in the summer of 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Stacy Dale Green.

Private memorial services honoring the life of Jerry Dale Green will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Rev. Steve Heisner will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at the West Eden Cemetery in Rural Johnson County. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps burial detail team and area veterans.

There will be a celebration of life service at 12 p.m. Saturday at Club 37 in Olmsted, Illinois.
