VHS hosts Meet the Eagles

On Saturday, Nov. 10, Vienna High School hosted their annual Meet The Eagles.

This is an event for the community to come out and get a look at the upcoming 2018-2019 winter sports teams at VHS.

To kick things off, everyone was recognized, and the seniors were individually recognized by name. After recognizing our veterans and standing for the star spangled banner; the Vienna Lady Eagles basketball team scrimmaged each other.

This featured the Freshmen Junior Varsity and Varsity team, with the girls showing lots of potential for the upcoming season.

The Lady Eagles have three returning seniors: Katelyn Wiggs, Haleigh Keeling and Alyssa Jones.

The Lady Varsity Eagles have their first few games and tourney at the Marion Invitational Tournament from Nov. 12-16. The first game will be on Monday, Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. against Herrin.

The dance team performed an entertaining choreography routine, which included one returning senior: Rachel Webb.

The cheerleading squad then performed the school song and got everyone on their feet. They have four returning seniors: Savannah Burnett, Shanena Vinson, Mallory Zoeckler, and Carlie Clay.

The men’s basketball team showcased their freshmen, Junior Varsity, and Varsity team through games of scrimmage as well.

The Eagles have five returning seniors: Justin Casey, Gabe Snell, Kyle Vancleve, Jeremy Pietrowski, and Zane Hutchinson.

The Varsity team will hold their annual Vienna Classic Tournament, Nov.  19-24 at VHS.

Their games will be played on Monday, Nov. 19 at 8:30 p.m.  against Galatia; Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 8:30 p.m. against Century; Wednesday Nov. 21 at 8:30 p.m. against Eldorado; Friday, Nov. 23 at 8:30pm against Carrier Mills; and Saturday, Nov. 24 at 8:30 p.m. against Cobden.
