The Vienna Lady Eagles, looking to continue their winning ways from the 2017-2018 season, have picked up right where they left off. The Lady Eagles opened their season on Nov. 12 at the Marion Lady Wildcat Invitational. The Lady Eagles picked up right were they left off last November winning the Lady Wildcat Invitational for the second straight year. The Lady Eagles went 3-1, beating 3A schools Herrin, and Massac, and 2A Powerhouse Hamilton County. The Eagles only lose came on a last second shot to host Marion.
On Tuesday, Nov. 20 the Lady Eagles traveled to unbeaten Sesser Valier, where the Lady Eagles handed SVW–their first conference loss in 6 years. SWV has won the last 5 Black Diamond Conference West Championships in that run they had won 63 consecutive conference games. The Eagles also snapped a multi year home winning streak for the Devils.
Monday, Nov. 26 found the Lady Eagles on the road taking on 5-1 Chester whose loss came to Sesser Valier. It was a slow start for the Lady Eagles 25-22 at half, but the Lady Eagles outscored Chester 30-16 in the second half to cruise to a 52-41. In victory 4 Eagles scored in double figures, led by senior Alyssa Jones and Haleigh Keeling, combining for 23 of the Eagles 52.The Lady Eagles are currently sitting at 5-1 on the young season. Lady Eagles are back in action Wednesday night at Century for 1 game at 6 p.m. and again Dec. 3 the Lady Eagles hit the road to take on cross county rival Goreville.
