Kara Hubbard

Kara Hubbard, 40, of Grand Chain, formerly of Cairo, passed away at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with her loving family by her side.

Kara was born June 20, 1978 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  She graduated from Camelot High School in Cairo in 1995, she received her Associate degree from Shawnee Community College in 1997.  Kara received her Bachelors of Arts Organizational Management in Forbes School of Business in 2015 from Ashford University.  Kara and David Hubbard were united in marriage May 16, 2014. Kara worked as an administrative assistant at SIDEZ in Mounds. She was an animal lover and loved  attending kids ball games and was a caregiver to all, she loved attending plays and gardening, she enjoyed dancing and karaoke.

Kara is survived by her husband, David Hubbard of Grand Chain, step-children, Jacqueline and Andrew Hubbard of Grand Chain, mother, Donna Sue Thomas of Cairo, one sister, Karla (Chuck) Shaffer of St. Louis, four brothers, John Kevin (Angie) Thomas of Metropolis, Kent (Stacey) Thomas of Millington, Tennessee,  Kyle Thomas of Kevil, Kentucky and Keith (Kiera) Thomas of Metropolis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kara was preceded in death by her father, Carl Edward Thomas on July 5, 2015.

A service honoring the life of Kara Thomas Hubbard will be Saturday, December 1, 2018  at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak .  Rev. Larry Potts , Rev. Steve Heisner and Rev.  Gerell Cain will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Grand Chain.  The family will receive friends Friday  evening  from 4 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  There will also be visitation Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Christian Church in Grand Chain or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
