Betty Jean VanMeter Rentfro, 82, of Karnak, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at 7:55 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at her home.
Betty was born March 16, 1936 in Karnak. She attended Karnak High School. Betty enjoyed reading and quilting . She loved her family dearly and taking care of her grandkids. She was an excellent cook having worked at Players Casino in Metropolis as a cook and also at Triple T Cafe in Karnak for many years.
She is survived by her brother, John (Becky) VanMeter Jr. of Grand Chain, sister, Georgia Staton of Alaska, grandchildren, Richard (Chelsea) Rentfro of Grand Chain, John (Marrienne) Rentfro of Hickory, Kentucky, James (Krista) Rentfro of New Berlin, Illinois, Rachel and Renee Rentfro of Karnak. Twelve great- grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rentfro, daughter, Debra Rentfro, two sons, Ricky Rentfro and Larry Rentfro, parents John and Stella Sexton VanMeter, sisters, Valda Simpson, Melba Brochovich and Nina Davis, grandson, Robert Rentfro.
Graveside services honoring the life of Betty Jean VanMeter Rentfro will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz. Pastor Tammy Horn will be officiating. Family and close friends have been asked to gather at the cemetery.
There will be a dinner served immediately after the service at the Chapel On The Ridge (Ohio Chapel, Grand Chain).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.
