Revitalization Committee to place lights at courthouse

By Jessica Wettig

Johnson County Revitalization seeks a project to place old-fashioned lights at the Johnson County Courthouse.

Phil Morris, Foreman Depot, said the organization is 40 years old, and seeks to bring together all of the organizations in the community to work on one project at a time.

The current project, the Beautification Project, involves placing old-fashioned lights, from circa 1920, at the courthouse. Morris said they want to place two by the street and two close to the steps.

These lights will be purchased privately be individuals, with the goal of making each light a memorial for a lost loved one.

Morris said the Johnson County Commissioners have approved this project.

The organization also seeks to trim shrubs and other landscaping work around the courthouse.

“They’re just trying to spruce up the courtyard,” said Morris.
