Raymond A. Johnson, 93, of Metropolis, formerly of Mounds, passed away at 1:58 a.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his home.
Raymond grew up in Mounds and attended Mounds High School. He served in the Air Force as a gunner in WWII. He worked many years at Rhodes Burford Furniture in Cairo. He retired from Electrical Energy Incorporated in Joppa, Illinois as an operator.
Raymond is survived by one son, Jody Johnson of St Louis, Missouri, brother, Gene Johnson of Calvert City, Kentucky, one grandson and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara “Tootsie” Johnson (October 16, 2016) one son, Tim Johnson (2017) parents, Oscar and Lavenia Johnson.
Graveside funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Raymond Johnson will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 at the cemetery. Rev. Mike Shearer will be officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery.
