Norman Lee Street

Norman Lee Street, age 88 years, a resident of Apache Junction, Arizona and a former resident of the Grantsburg community in Johnson County Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, October 2, 2018, at 4:11 AM at his home.

Norman was born January 12, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of Arthur and Minnie (Baity) Street.

Norman was united in marriage to Ina Mae Woracheck. He was later united in marriage to Lillian Arbanas. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2013.

Norman is survived by: his children – Wanda (J.R.) Sparlin of Kellyville, Oklahoma, Cynthia Tapia of Tolleson, Arizona, Denise Gettings of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Gerry Wilkins of Phoenix, Arizona; 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; 4 brothers – Arthur (Doris) Street of the New Columbia community, Harold (Mary) Street and James W. (Marlene) Street all of Vienna, and Dee (Linda) Street of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law – Gladys Street of the Reevesville community; a brother-in-law – Jim Mifflin of Golconda; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wives, Norman was preceded in death by: a son – Robert Woracheck; a daughter – Gaye Dunsmore; a grandson – Carlos Paynter, 2 brothers – Lowell Street and Bob Street; 3 sisters – Shirley Lockerby, Shelby Mifflin, and Marlene Davis; and a sister-in-law- Virginia Street.

Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class. Norman was honorably discharged from active military service on April 4, 1953. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 9399 in Apache Junction.

Norman was employed as an aerospace machinist by Modern Industries in Phoenix, Arizona prior to his retirement.

Norman attended church at the Mount Cowboy Church in Apache Junction and attended Southern Range Cowboy Church in Pulley’s Mill. He enjoyed country and western music.

A funeral service honoring the life of Norman Lee Street will be conducted Sunday afternoon, October 7, 2018, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jason Forby will officiate. Burial will be in the Gilead Cemetery near Simpson. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the U.S. Navy burial honors detail and the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222 of Vienna.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 1 PM – 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
