Fifty years ago the class of 1968, twenty-four of them, bid adieu to their high school years and scattered to begin new lives.
Through the years they have gathered at reunions, but this year called for a really special celebration for thirteen of the now 68-year-olds. Five members of the class have passed away.
So plans were made for a week-long series of fun events, which included a Southern Illinois Miners game; Goofy Golf; church; bowling; a tour of their alma mater, an afternoon of Du Quoin State Fair horse racing; a night at the movies; a family picnic; a different restaurant each day; a visit with a former classmate, who has health issues; with the grand finale a dinner at the Long Horn Restaurant. They were accompanied by their mates and some school friends of other years joined in the fun.
