Vonda Kay Burnam, age 52 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away Friday, August 24, 2018, at her home.
Vonda was born September 8, 1965 in Metropolis, Illinois. She was the daughter of Charles E. and Martha J. (Huckelberry) Burnam.
Vonda is survived by: a daughter – Rachel Ann Stewart; a granddaughter – Sydnie Renee Kerley both of Vienna; a sister-in-law – Linda Burnam Slone and her husband Larry, a cousin – Katie (Steve) Pobst along with Will and Wyatt Ashford; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Vonda was preceded in death by her brother – Terry Burnam.
Vonda was a 1983 graduate of Vienna High School. She was employed as the assistant manager at the P.N. Hirsch (later Dollar General Store) from 1983-1986. Vonda also had been employed as a technician at Choate Mental Health Center in Anna. She provided babysitting and childcare service for many years for a number of families throughout the community.
Vonda attended the Benton Community Church. She enjoyed watching movies, reading and making many types of handcrafts. Vonda especially cherished time spent with her granddaughter, Sydnie.
Vonda will be remembered as a caring soul who took great delight in helping others.
A graveside service honoring the life of Vonda Burnam will be conducted Wednesday morning, August 29, 2018, at 10 AM at the Belknap Masonic Cemetery, 394 Sunflower Lane, Belknap, Illinois. Pastor Bob Murley will officiate. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 9:45 AM Wednesday.
There will be no visitation.
It was Vonda’s personal request that flowers be omitted. However, donations to the Heather Harper Treat Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 98, Vienna, Illinois 62995 or a simple, random act of kindness in Vonda’s memory would be appreciated.
