Elaine (Boner) Jackson, age 70 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, August 12, 2018, at 9:52 PM at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois.
Elaine was born March 26, 1948 in Creal Springs, Illinois to Raymond and Allene (Sloan) Boner, who preceded her in death. Allene had two children when she married Raymond; Dorothy Taylor who preceded Elaine in death and Ronnie Hileman, who lives in Anna. Elaine was a graduate of Vienna High School, class of 1966. She took care of her younger brother, Tony, who has been afflicted with Down Syndrome for most of Elaine’s life.
On December 24, 1966, she married Jerry K. Jackson at the Tunnel Hill Baptist Church. They have three children and eight grandchildren; Kelly and Kira Jackson of Louisville, Kentucky; Kindra (her husband John), Samuel and Nicholas Grimesof Greenwood, Indiana; and Keith, Kayla, Josiah, Elias, Jaden and Kirk Jackson of Lake Villa, Illinois.
Elaine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life. After marriage, Elaine served as a homemaker and Sunday school teacher and enjoyed taking care of others. She loved serving as a pastor’s wife the last ten years of her life.
She loved God and others and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and maw-maw who loved her family with great zeal and passion. She was always sacrificing for her children and grandchildren and for the betterment of their lives.
Elaine enjoyed designing and decorating her new log cabin home and had an eye for design. Flowers, as well as playing with and caring for her grandchildren were her greatest joys.
In accordance with her wishes, Elaine will be cremated. A memorial service honoring her life will be conducted Sunday afternoon, September 2, 2018, at 2 PM at the Simpson Baptist Church, 7095 Illinois Highway 147, Simpson, Illinois. The family will greet friends and relatives at a luncheon to be held immediately following the service.
Private inurnment will be in the Webb Cemetery near Tunnel Hill.
