Charles Michael Meyers

Charles Michael Meyers, 75, of Karnak, passed away at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.

Charles was born November 19, 1942 in Karnak, Illinois.  He was a graduate of Karnak Community High School.  Charles and Karen Wood Meyers were united in marriage in 1967, they shared 50 years together.  Charles served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He loved his country, loved the outdoors, golfing and especially loved being a grandpa. He was an avid fisherman and an avid Alabama football fan.  Charles was a retired fireman for the Cairo Fire Department. He had recently worked as a mechanic at Shawnee Mass Transit District in Vienna.

Charles is survived by his wife Karen Meyers, daughter, Michelle Shreves (Chad), grandchildren, Amber, Kelsey Greif (Timothy), Jake Shreves, one great-grandchild Collins Greif and one brother Tom Meyers (Carol) of Louisville, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ethelle Meyers of Karnak, brother Edwin (Sonny) Meyers.

Funeral services honoring Mr. Charles Michael Meyers will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, Illinois. Rev. Gerall Cain will be officiating.  The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9am until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at the Mound City National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the United States Marine Corps burial detail team and local veterans.

Pallbearers will be Tony Delaney, Steve Keys, Tom Meyers, Tom  (Tojo) Meyers, Robert Wood, and Jake Shreves. Honorary pallbearers will be John Holman, Jim Keys and Chad Shreves.
