Ray Arnold Phelps

Ray Arnold Phelps, age 76 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 4:34 PM at his home.

Ray was born December 8, 1941 in Pope County Illinois.  He was the son of Lee and Letha (Morris) Phelps.

On June 26, 1960, Ray was united in marriage to Imogene Bebout in Pope County.  She preceded him in death on August 12, 2015.

Ray is survived by:  his children – Tammy Eudy of Vienna and Chad (Angela) Phelps of Simpson; 3 grandchildren – Chastity (her fiancé Te-ja Oakley) Eudy, Clayton Phelps and Caitlyn Phelps; a great grandson – Caden Kerley; 2 sisters – Rosalee Quertermous and Carmen (George) Wells all of Paducah, Kentucky; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by: a son-in-law – Melvin Eudy; an infant brother – Leslie Glenn Phelps; an infant sister – Norma Jean Phelps; a sister – Dorothy Street; and 3 brothers-in-law – Forrest Breeden, Clarence Street, and Paul Quertermous.

Ray had worked as a mechanic at various businesses.  He also worked as an auto parts salesman at Kimmel Auto Supply in Anna.

Ray was a member of Simpson Baptist Church.  He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He particularly cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

A service honoring the life of Ray Phelps will be held Saturday afternoon, June 30, 2018, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor Tommy Gray will officiate.  Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Visitation will be conducted Saturday, June 30, 2018, from 11 AM – 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.
