Jimmy D. Craig

Jimmy D. Craig, age 62 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, at 5:50 PM at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Jimmy was born June 3, 1955 in Vienna. He was the son of Marcus H. and Joyce E. (Caraker) Craig.

Jimmy is survived by:  his mother – Joyce Craig of Vienna; his children – Jimmy D. Craig of Metropolis and Ludonna A. Craig of Murray, Kentucky; a grandson – Lukas; 4 sisters – Dianna Samples and Judy Hastings both of Marion, Pam Runge of Goreville, and Theresa Morse of Stonefort; 2 brothers – Ted Craig of Vienna and Randy Craig of Texas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Craig, as well as a brother – Curtis Craig.

Jimmy was a 1974 graduate of Vienna High School.  He was employed for over 30 years as an officer by the Illinois Department of Corrections. He worked at the Vienna Correctional Center as well as at the Dixon Springs Impact Incarceration Program (Boot Camp).

Jimmy was a member of Saline Masonic Lodge # 339 A.F. & A.M. in Goreville.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed biking, horseback riding, shooting, and knife throwing.

In accordance with Jimmy’s wishes, a private family funeral service and burial was held.
