Shirley Vick Shearer

Shirley Vick Shearer, 83, of Grand Chain (The Tick Ridge Community), passed away at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon.

Shirley was born November 27, 1934 in Karnak. She attended Mounds Township High School. Shirley and Robert Bob Shearer were united in marriage on November 11, 1951 . Shirley loved embroidering quilts and crocheting afghans. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family.  Shirley was previously a owner of a ceramic shop in the Mermet Community along with Mary Jo House. Shirley and Bob love to ballroom dance .

She is survived by  two sons, Mike (Nancy) Shearer of Glendale, Illinois,  Alan (Michelle)Shearer of Dallas,Texas; five daughters,  Vicki (Lonnie) Coffey of Mattoon, Illinois,  Dianne (Jim) Hussong of Mattoon, Illinois, Beth (Ralph) Heisserer of Kelso, Missouri,  Karen (Garrett) Wilson of Karnak, Illinois,  Amy (John) Wagner of Lockport,  Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Jean Vick.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Robert Bob Shearer in 2005; infant son, Robert Michael Shearer; parents, William Elmer and Mary Adeline Breazeale Vick; two brothers, Steve and Lewis Vick.

Funeral services honoring Mrs. Shirley Vick Shearer will be  at 10 a.m.  Wednesday,  May 2,  2018 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 1,  2018 from 5 to 8  p.m. at the funeral home.  Rev. Steve Heisner,  Pastor Tammy Horn and Rev. Mike Shearer will be officiating . Internment will follow at the Ohio Chapel Cemetery on Tick Ridge.

Pallbearers  will be Lonnie Coffey , Jim Hussong, Garrett Wilson, John Wagner, Mike Shearer, Alan Shearer and Ralph Heisserer.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made  to St. Judes Children’s Research Center. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
