Norman Francis Myers, age 91 years, a resident of Marion, Illinois and a former resident of Cairo, passed away Saturday evening, March 31, 2018, at 7:05 PM at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Norman was born July 7, 1926 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
On June 25, 1966, Norman was united in marriage to Mary Jane Goddard in Cairo, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2002.
Norman is survived by: 2 daughters – Patricia (her husband, Robert) Durham of Marion and Pam (her husband, Les) Bird of Creal Springs; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norman was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather: Mary and Clark Whittenberg; a sister – Wanda Phelps, and a granddaughter.
Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. had been employed as a roofer and a handyman.
Norman enjoyed playing cards as well as visiting with family and friends. He was of the Christian faith.
A graveside service honoring the life of Norman F. Myers will be held Wednesday morning, April 11, 2018, at 11 AM at Taylor Cemetery north of Vienna. Military graveside rites will be accorded.
There will be no public visitation. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 10:45 AM Wednesday.
