Hallie Dale “H.D.” Solomon, Jr., age 45 years, a resident of Stonefort, passed away Saturday morning, April 7, 2018, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
H.D., as he was affectionately known, was born March 2, 1973 in Eldorado, Illinois. He was the son of Hallie Dale Solomon, Sr. and Irene F. (Street) Solomon.
In 1995, H.D. was united in marriage to Shannon Cain.
Other survivors include: his mother and stepfather – Irene and James Jones of rural Golconda; 4 children – Timothy (Sarah) Cain of Herrin, Adawnya (Bob) Henderson, Hallie “Neal” (Ashlie) Solomon and Damion (Christy) Solomon all of Creal Springs; 15 grandchildren – Braden, Addyson, Aubree, Camron, Anjel, Paislee, Alex, JoJo, Angel, Bella, Ramen Dale, Levi, Hallie, Kylie, and Amelia; a sister – Rhonda (Dewayne) Atkinson of Stonefort; a stepbrother – Steve Jones of Harrisburg; aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and many friends. H.D. was also anticipating the upcoming birth of a granddaughter to be named Thea.
H.D. was preceded in death by his father – Hallie Dale Solomon, Sr.
H.D. was a 1991 graduate of Pope County Community High School. Following graduation, he was employed as a cabinet maker by Wilson Custom Kitchens in Harrisburg. Later he was employed as a barge deck hand by the Tennessee Valley Towing Company. He then worked for the Illinois Central Railroad system (now Canadian National Railway) as a laborer on a track crew prior to a debilitating injury.
H.D. attended the Stonefort General Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many types of activities, including fishing, trading, and collecting. H.D. most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He cherished opportunities to share time with his children and taught them many important life lessons.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday evening, April 12, 2018, at 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jeff Owens will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Zion Cemetery, east of Ozark.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 PM – 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the GBS/CIDP Foundation, International, 375 East Elm Street, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania 19428. This foundation conducts research into the rare Guillain-Barre’ Syndrome with which H.D. had been diagnosed.
