Delonda was born December 16, 1938 in Johnson County Illinois. She was the daughter of Homer and Velma (Sullivan) Anderson.
On August 6, 1957, Delonda was united in marriage to Lewis Simpson Robinson in Green Valley, Illinois. He survives.
Additionally, Delonda is survived by: her son – James Lewis (his wife, Audrey) Robinson of Marion; a grandson – William James Robinson; 2 sisters – Janet (her husband, Jerry) Billingsley of Buncombe and Delores Taylor of Austin, Texas; 3 nephews – Jason Billingsley, Kenny Taylor and Steve Taylor; and a niece – Karol (her husband, Wes) Shaffer.
In addition to her parents, Delona was preceded in death by: a brother and sister-in-law – William O. & Esther Anderson and a brother-in-law – Gene Taylor.
Delonda was a 1957 graduate of Vienna High School. She attended the Belleville Junior College as well as Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Delonda was employed as an executive secretary for 30 years by various agencies of the federal government.
Delonda was a member and past regent of the Daniel Chapman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a former member of the Red Hat Society.
Delonda and Lewis were members of the Goreville First Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading novels, researching genealogy, and attending car shows with her son James. She particularly cherished time spent with her grandson, Will.
A service honoring the life of Delonda Robinson will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Cana Cemetery north of Goreville.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 AM – 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
