Jim Waycuilis, 68, of Vienna, passed away on March 8, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri after a fierce battle with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Jim was born on March 2, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Irene M. (Frazier) Waycuilis and Victor J. Waycuilis.
He graduated from SIUC with a degree in Forestry.
He was a retired Illinois Department of Natural Resources Site Superintendent at the Cache River State Natural Area in Belknap, Illinois. He was very proud of the 37 years he worked for IDNR and his accomplishments, which include the opening of the Henry N. Barkhausen Cache River Wetlands Center and construction of the Michael Wolff Wetlands.
He leaves behind his daughter, Annie (Ethan) Graham of Marion, Illinois and a brother Louis (Lynn) Waycuilis of Panama City Beach, Florida. He also leaves behind his girlfriend of 15 years, Jane Johnson of Herrin, Illinois.
In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and a private celebration of his life will be held at Heron Pond in Belknap, Illinois.
