Donald Eugene Croft, age 89, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 3:55 am on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Steve Karraker officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Don was born on October 12, 1928, in Vienna, Illinois, to the late Johnie Croft and Genevieve (Inman) Croft Easterday. He attended New Columbia High School and enjoyed working on cars in his spare time. He moved to Riverside, California, in 1956 and worked as an inspector for the Riverside County Health Department until his retirement. Don returned to the Vienna area after retirement and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Metropolis Church of Christ.
Don is survived by his daughter, Peggy Doiron and husband Paul; son, Danny Croft; four grandchildren, Dennis Doiron and wife Jennifer, Craig Doiron, Krystle Watkins and husband Brian, and Micah Croft; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Howell and husband Bob; brother, Bobby Mahan; stepsons, Jimmy Hamm and wife Rhonda, Al Stratemeyer and wife Sandy; three step-grandchildren, Mendi Souders and husband Chad, Erica Johnson and husband Ryan, and Sophie Stratemeyer; and four step-great-granddaughters. He also leaves behind numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Averil Croft; wife, Mary Sue Croft; and brother, William Lindolph Croft.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening February 22, 2018, from 6 pm to 8 pm and on Friday from 9 am until the funeral hour at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
