Vicki Jo (Cavitt) Gordon, age 60 years, a resident of Goreville, Illinois, passed away Friday afternoon, December 15, 2017, at 3:29 PM at Continue Care Hospital at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Vicki was born November 19, 1957 in Marion, Illinois. She was the daughter of John D. and Geraldine (Odum) Cavitt.
Vicki was formerly united in marriage to Billy Cheek and later to Wayne Gordon.
Survivors include: her father – John D. Cavitt of Vienna; her daughter – Shekinah Cheek of Vienna; 2 grandchildren – Alyssa Jo Casey and Lane Charles Cheek; a sister – Sondra Goins of Vienna; a brother – Greg (his wife, Trina) Cavitt of Creal Springs; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Vicki was preceded in death by: her mother – Geraldine Cavitt and her son – Charles Jarrod Cheek.
Vicki was a 1975 graduate of Vienna High School, where she had been actively involved in a number of organizations and clubs. Vicki studied cosmetology at Shawnee Community College and earned an associate in applied science degree, graduating in 1977.
Vicki had been employed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and was employed at the women’s facilities in Burnet and Gatesville, Texas. She also served as a representative for Revlon, Home Interior and Avon.
Vicki was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Gospel Mission near the Lake of Egypt. She cherished time spent with family and friends and enjoyed playing dominoes. Vicki also enjoyed caring for her faithful canine companions as well as her cats, Rambo and Sorah.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 1PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Burial will be at the Graves-Mt Olive Cemetery north of Vienna.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, December 18, 2017 from 5PM-8PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
