Kay Frances Canup, age 76 years, a resident of rural Grantsburg, Illinois (the Reevesville community), passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, December 25, 2017, at 9:13 AM at her home.
Kay was born February 28, 1941 in Cairo, Illinois. She was the eldest of four children born to Homer K. and Mary Alice (Elkins) Canup.
Kay is survived by: her son – Anthony Brian (his wife, Kari) Cachapero of Sacramento, California; 2 grandchildren – Lawrence Anthony and Hunter Norwood Cachapero; a brother – Danny (his wife, Sue) Canup of Thompsonville and a sister- Mary (her husband, Rick) Crews of the Reevesville community, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by: a daughter – Maria Theresa Cachapero and a brother – Richard “Bud” Canup.
Kay was a 1959 graduate of the Kankakee High School. She received nurses training at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois. Kay held various clerical positions throughout her working career. Most recently, Kay has been employed at the Wal-Mart on Hinkleville Road in Paducah, Kentucky.
Kay was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and friends and enjoying life.
A service honoring the life of Kay F. Canup will be conducted Friday, December 29, 2017, at 1 P.M. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Dr. Ed Hollis and Brother Scott Sparks will officiate. Burial will be in the Johnson Cemetery, east of Vienna.
Visitation will be conducted from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M.Friday at Bailey Funeral Home
It was Kay’s express wish that memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675, any cancer research organization or charity of the donor’s choice.
