Evelyn Ross

Evelyn Ross, age 79 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Thursday evening, December 7, 2017, at 8:30 PM at her home.

Evelyn was born June 3, 1938 in the Bloomfield Township (Johnson County) Illinois. She was the daughter of Shelby Remember and Mabel (Harner) Fairless.

On July 12, 1958, Evelyn was united in marriage to Richard Ross at the First Baptist Church in Vienna. He survives.

Additionally, Evelyn is survived by: her children – Mike (his wife, Christine) Ross of Vienna, Mitch (his wife, Linda) Ross of Vienna, Marshell (his wife, Jennie) Ross of Simpson and Mona (her husband, Mike) Reeder of Vienna; 13 grandchildren – Alex, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Josh, Patricia, Natosha, Savannah, Marrisa, Amber, Fayth, Randy, Rebecca, and Ryan; 3 great grandchildren – Jayden, Jaycie Ray, and Brylee; 2 brothers – Dr. Bill J. (his wife, Elizabeth) Fairless of New Burnside and Bobby (his wife, Katie) Fairless of Salt Lake City, Utah; Kimberly Shoemaker, who was a very special person to Evelyn; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Evelyn was anticipating the birth of a great grandson in February 2018.

Evelyn was preceded in death by: her parents – Shelby Remember Fairless and Mabel Fairless Brooks; a brother – Shelby “Gene” Fairless and a sister – Peggy Sue Neeldes.

Evelyn is a 1957 graduate of Vienna High School. She was employed by Barber-Greene, Inc. in Aurora (a machinery manufacturing company). Additionally, Evelyn was a homemaker. She enjoyed “gatoring,” and fishing and particularly cherished time spent “raising” her grandchildren.

Evelyn was of the Baptist faith and had most recently attended Revelation Road Baptist Church near Buncombe.

A service honoring the life of Evelyn Ross will be conducted Sunday afternoon, December 10, 2017, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Scott Harner and Pastor Pete Vinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Church of God Cemetery north of Cypress.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening, December 9, 2017, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
