Arretta Madlock

Arretta Madlock, age 95 years, a resident of rural Buncombe, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, December 17, 2017, at 12:05 PM at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Early Moore, in Vienna.

Arretta was born December 27, 1921 in Dumas, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Henry Adrow and Charlie Mae (Jackson) Adrow.

On February 20, 1942, Arretta was united in marriage to Rev. Willie Madlock in Dumas, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2000.

Survivors include: 8 sons – Leroy Madlock of Lepanto, Arkansas, Arthur Madlock of Chicago, Lee Madlock of Buncombe, Frankie Madlock of Buncombe, Jay Woroniak of Buncombe, John Clark of Vienna, Cameron Riley of Metropolis and Cleve Cornelius; 6 daughters – Ruby Moore of Vienna, Linda Phifer of St. Louis, Missouri, Martha Ann Haley of Livermore, California, Mae Adrow of Madison, Illinois, Demitha Madlock of Kansas City, Missouri, Cassie Madlock of Buncombe, and Melinda Downs of Texas; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers – Alpha Adrow of Chicago and Sol McClone of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arretta was preceded in death by a grandson – Trevor Marr, a granddaughter – Nichelle Madlock; a sister – Doris Adrow; and 4 brothers – Lee Adrow, Roosevelt Adrow, Joe Adrow, and Henry Adrow, Jr.

Arretta was a homemaker. Through the years, she had opened her heart and her home to over 100 foster children. Arretta was of the Baptist faith. She is remembered for her love of fishing and caring for her “Grandbabies.”

A service honoring the life of Arretta Madlock will be conducted Saturday, December 23, 2017, at 12 Noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Alex Sims will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Buncombe.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017, from 11 AM – 12 Noon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
