Kerry “Dale” Snelling, age 70 years, a resident of Vienna, Illinois and a former resident of Rockford, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, November 10, 2017, at 1:12 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Dale was born October 19, 1947 in Greenville (Muhlenberg County) Kentucky. He was the son of Clarence Emmett and Jonell (Baize) Snelling.
On June 20, 1967, Dale was united in marriage to Lynn E. Kincannon in Oak Park, Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors include: his children – Dawn Michele Snelling of Vienna, Kenneth David Snelling and Jason Kerry-Dale Snelling both of Rockford; 2 grandchildren – Jennifer Lynn Snelling and Shannon Marie Snelling; his mother-in-law – Virginia Basta of Vienna; his aunt and “best bud” – Bonnie Flora of Vienna; and his beloved canine companion – “Jake.”
Dale was a U.S. Army veteran. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam during his 8 years of service, prior to his honorable discharge.
Dale was employed for over 20 years by Essex Wire, Inc. in Rockford.
He enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars as well as working in his yard. Dale was a passionate reader and enjoyed many styles of literary genre. Dale was a non-denominational Christian.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.
