Jonathan Chase Tatham, age 75 years, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at 5:40 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Jon resided near Vienna for many years on his beloved High Meadows Farm.
Jon was born February 1, 1942 in Evanston, Illinois. He was the son of Arthur Edward Tatham and Angela (Bolas) Tatham. Jon was preceded in death by his beloved parents.
On April 9 1998, Jon was united in marriage to Mary (nee Spurlock) in Vienna, Illinois. She survives.
Additionally, Jon is survived by: his four daughters – Lindsey Tatham Brown of Nashville, Tennessee, Lisa Chase Tatham of New York, New York, Alexandra Austin Tatham of Middleburg, Virginia and Kathryn Tatham Richardson, and her husband Scott Richardson, of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren – Chelsea Leigh Brown of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeremy Alexander Brown, and his wife Jessica Julius Brown, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Joshua Tatham Brown of Schriever, Louisiana, and Elizabeth May Richardson of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters – Jane Tatham Johnson of Evanston and Judith Tatham Brewton of Saratoga Springs, New York.
Jon had a larger than life personality. He might be described as stubborn, difficult, and downright obstinate. However, those who truly knew Jon, also knew the tremendous heart and character that existed within him; character that always had a new idea in mind, that was the life of the party and might even cause you to shake your head at time. A heart, that beneath the gruff exterior and if you stuck around long enough to know, would give you the shirt off his back…and then some. Jon was passionate about High Meadows Farm and made it his home for over fifty years. He loved farming, eventing, fox hunting and cooking for family and friends.
Jon was a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. He had served as Master of River to River Hounds, was a former member of Wolf Creek Hounds and a former board member of the United States Equestrian Team (USET).
A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Jonathan Tatham will be conducted Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM at High Meadows Farm, 3855 State Route 146 East, Vienna, Illinois.
