Mary Springs – Obituary

Mary Springs, age 97 years, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, October 13, 2017, at 5:35 AM at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.

Mary was born February 5, 1920 in Union County Illinois. She was the daughter of Alfred and Essie Myrtle (Manning) Girtman.

On July 26, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Carmon Marshall Springs in Joplin, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1986.

Mary is survived by: her daughter Barbara S. (Richard) Smith of Vienna; 3 grandchildren – Mark Alan (Debbie) Smith along with Debbie’s daughter – Macie, Laura (Bill) Daniels and Michael Shannon (Tracy) Smith all residing at Coal City; 3 great grandchildren – Elizabeth (Joe) Koester, Candace (Jake) Ditzler and Allison Taylor (Jeremy) Nugent; 5 great-great grandchildren – Aiden, Abigail, Tatum, Audi, and Grey; as well as a dear friend – Trudy Musich of Campus.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mary was employed for many years as a production assembler by Amphenol, Inc. in Chicago.

She was a member of the Coal City Baptist Church and locally attended the First Baptist Church in Vienna. Mary enjoyed reading in her spare time.

A graveside service honoring the life of Mary Springs will be conducted Saturday morning, October 21, 2017, at 11 AM at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, 23775 Whipporwill Road, Carrier Mills, IL (the Corinth community). Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate.

Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 10:45 AM Saturday.

There will be no visitation.
