FAFSA event set at VHS

An event aiming to help students fill out their FAFSA is scheduled at Vienna High School in the Media Center on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A FAFSA must be on file to receive a scholarship, grant or loan at any college or university.

Oct. 1, 2017 is the first day to complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA.

It takes about 30 minutes to complete, so participants are asked to arrive before 5:30 p.m.

Students who apply early will avoid missing the State of Illinois MAP (Monetary Award Program) grant deadline.

Prior to coming, create a FSA ID at www.studentaid.gov/fsaid for both students and parents if dependent. If dependent, must use separate email addresses.

The FSA ID takes one to three days to verify with the Social Security Administration, so make sure to apply for it before the event.

Students and their parents/guardians are asked to bring the following to the event:

Verified FSA ID username and password for student (and parents, if dependent), 2016 income taxes, 2016 W-2’s and/or 1099s, 2016 child support received, 2016 child support paid and any other income in 2016.
