Eagles fall short in home opener

On Saturday, September 2nd the Vienna-Goreville (VG) football team squared off against Eldorado for the first home football game of the year. Eldorado was able to get things going early, scoring a touchdown just a couple minutes into the game putting them up 6-0 over the Eagles.

Entering the second quarter still 6-0 Eldorado, the Eagles looked to find a way to score but it was all Eldorado. With 10:16 in the second quarter, Eldorado scored a touchdown and was able to add another touchdown with 2:39, as well as a two-point conversion to make it 20-0 Eldorado heading into halftime. The Eagles were able to get on the board with a pass from Junior, Logyn Frassoto to Senior, Dilynn Roper who was able to complete the pass for a touchdown. Frassoto was able to kick a field goal with 6:56 in the third, the Eagles trailing Eldorado 7-20, however Eldorado was having a great offensive game scoring a touchdown with 3:30 left in the third putting the score at 26-7.

Eldorado leading 34-7, the Eagles were able to make one last play before the game ended, with 30.4 seconds left Junior, Danny Smith scored a touchdown and Sophomore, Aidan Kuhn with a two-point conversion ending the game in a final score of 15 Eagles, 34 Eldorado. The Eagles will look to bounce back, when they play again this Saturday, September 9th at home against Johnson City at 1pm.
