Doris Adrow, age 83 years, a resident of rural Buncombe since 2010 and a former resident of Dumas, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 4:50 PM at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna.
Doris was born July 12, 1934 in Dumas, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Henry Adrow, Sr. and Charlie Mae (Jackson) Adrow.
Doris is survived by: her children – Mae E. Adrow of Madison, Martha Haley of Livermore, California, Linda Phifer of St. Charles, Missouri, and Demitha Madlock of Kansas City, Missouri; 2 granddaughters – Tiffany Phifer and Erika (her husband, Chancey) Felder; 2 great granddaughters – Chelsey and Brielle; a brother – Alpha Adrow of Chicago and a sister – Arretta Madlock of Buncombe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by: 4 brothers – Lee Adrow, Roosevelt Adrow, Joe Willis Adrow, and Henry Adrow, Jr.
Doris was a graduate of the Dumas, Arkansas public school system. She was employed in the wood finishing department of Bassett Furniture Industries in Dumas, Arkansas prior to her retirement.
Doris was a member of St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas where she served on the usher board.
Doris cherished time spent with her family and friends. She provided child care and babysitting service through the years. In her spare time, Doris enjoyed fishing.
A service honoring the life of Doris Adrow will be conducted Saturday afternoon, September 23, 2017, at 12 Noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Buncombe.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 12 Noon Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
